GMP Operation Safer Streets – Keeping Women and Girls Safe in Manchester’s Night Time Economy
This weekend, as part of GMP's Operation Safer Streets, dedicated plain-clothes officers will be deployed across Manchester's Night Time Economy to help protect vulnerable women and girls and prevent harm before it occurs.
Our officers will be patrolling the busiest areas during peak nightlife hours, working discreetly amongst the public to identify suspicious behaviour, safeguard vulnerable individuals, and intervene at the earliest opportunity where concerns arise. The focus of these dedicated patrols is prevention, ensuring everyone can enjoy a safe night out without fear of harassment, intimidation, or violence.
The officers involved are specially tasked with identifying individuals who may be targeting vulnerable people, as well as offering support and assistance to anyone who feels unsafe or requires help.
We want women and girls to feel confident when enjoying Manchester's nightlife. If you see our officers out and about, please do not hesitate to speak to them. Whether you need assistance, wish to report suspicious behaviour, or have concerns for the welfare of a friend, we are here to help.
We also encourage everyone enjoying their evening to look out for one another, plan their journeys home, stay with friends where possible, and report any incidents of harassment, unwanted attention, or behaviour that makes them feel unsafe.
Together, through partnership working, community support and proactive policing, we can make Manchester's Night Time Economy a safer place for everyone.
If you need police assistance, speak to an officer, call 101, or in an emergency always dial 999. | ||
